SESAN is GROWING by Bedri Karayagmurlar

Communication and technology have came such an interesting point that it is impossible to live without using, seeing them. It is inevitable for the artists to deal with topics such as communication and presentation other than their actual interests. For the ones who are trying to gain new skills in the artistic activities that head towards the work outside the production, in the conditions of globalisation, the prophecy of Andy Warhol ‘’ One day everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes ‘’ can be told in another way; ‘’ One day everyone will be an artist for fifteen minutes ‘’ .
As evaluated in terms of its purposes, SESAN Free Artworkers Project was giving the impression of a utopic project that is in the claim to include all about the Turkish Visual Arts that we hardly recognise the limits. Because of this, it seemed to have no change to succeed. Each era passes by leaving distinctive traces. Even though everyone has not got a chance to be an artist, it should be greeted with joy that they try to Express themselves and their environment by using the possibilities of expression of art. Because the person who tends to leave traces can have a better understanding of life. It’s important to say I have lived too and thus to be among the ones who choose living to tell the tale (*) like Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Your life might be like a novel but if it is not told and recorded it became not a novel, but dust.

Today, we can say that the artist is being tried to be redefined. It’s not just the artist, everything is being redefined. The present democracy is not the same democracy as fifty years ago, most particularly a hundred years ago. As we think that we understand what’s happening, we surprisedly see that we’ve moved to a new phase. Owing to digital technology, the number of the photographers bursted. The so-called authors who were having trouble to find a place in the medium a short time ago, are today publishing magazines themselves in the websites. The opportunities provided for learning the techniques of narration, empower the opinion that art is technique and make it easy for the ones who use the opportunities of the information technology to feel themselves as an artist. That is the breaking point; any attempt of narration far from technical problems will have no difficulty to find audience if it has overcome the problem of transmitting. Thus, the known tripod of art will have been established in a sense. In our age that the rights to be an artist are being discussed, this sight seems to gradually change the description of art.

SESAN has showned us that in Turkiye there’ s a secret power that can’t be underestimated and that the quantity of the people who define themselves as an artist has reached amazing numbers. Our people want talk and express.

In this catalogue, by including the educated artists who have chosen art as a life-style, SESAN aims to set a good example for its other members. Considering that this work involving the well-known artists will contribute to the Turkish Visual Arts.

Iletisim ve teknolojileri oyle ilginc bir noktaya geldi ki, kullanmadan, gormeden yasamak olanaksiz. Sanatcilarin asil ilgilerinin disinda bir de iletiiim ve tanitim gibi konularla ilgilenmeleri artik kacinilmaz. Andy Warhol’ un ‘’ Bir gun herkes 15 dakikaligina unlu olacak ‘’ kehanetini kuresellesmenin yarattigi kosullarda, uretim disinda kalan emegin yoneldigi sanatsal etkinliklerin icinde yeni beceriler kazanmaya calisanlar icin, bir baska bicimde soyleyebiliriz: Bir gun herkes 15 dakikaligina sanatci olacak.

SESAN Serbest Sanatcilar Projesi amaclari acisindan degerlendirildiginde neredeyse sinirlarini tanimakta zorlandigimiz Turk gorsel sanatlari adina ne varsa hepsini kapsama savinda olan oldukca utopik bir proje izlenimi veriyordu. Boyle olmasi nedeniyle de basari sansi olmayan bir calisma gorunumundeydi. Her donem kendine has izler birakarak yasanir. Herkesin sanatci olmak gibi bir sansi olmasa da, sanatin anlatim olanaklarini kullanarak kendisini ve cevresini anlatmaya calismasini sevincle karsilamamiz gerekiyor. Cunku anlatan insan iyi insandir. Iz birakma egiliminde olan insan yasami daha iyi kavrar. Ben de yaþsadim demek ve bu nedenle Gabriel Garcia Marquez gibi anlatmak icin yasamayi (*) secenlerden olmak onemlidir. Hayatiniz roman gibi olmayabilir ama anlatilmamis ve kayda gecirilmemisse roman degil toz olur.

Gunumuzde sanatcinin yeniden tanimlanmaya calisildigini soyleyebiliriz. Sadece sanatci mi her sey yeniden tanimlaniyor. Demokrasi elli yil, hele hele yuz yil onceki demokrasi degil. Ne oldugunu anladigimizi dusundugumuzde, yeni bir evreye gectigimizi goruyoruz saskinlikla. Dijital teknoloji sayesinde fotografcilarin sayisinda patlama oldu. Dun yayin organlarinda yer bulmakta sikinti ceken yazar ozengenleri, simdi internet sitesinde tek baslarina dergi cikariyorlar. Anlatim tekniklerini ogrenmek icin yaratilan olanaklar, sanatin teknik oldugu yargisini guclendirerek, bilgi teknolojilerinin sundugu olanaklari kullananlarin kendilerini sanatci gibi duyumsamalarini da kolaylastiriyor. Iste kirilma noktasi da burasi; teknik sorunlari cozulmus bir anlati girisimi, eger iletilmekle ilgili sorunu da asiyorsa, kendisine izleyici bulmasi hic zor olmayacaktir. Sanatin bilinen uc ayagi bir anlamda kurulmus olacaktir boylece. Herkesin sanatci olma hakkinin tartisildigi gunumuzde, bu gorunum, giderek sanatin tanimini da degistirecek gibi gorunuyor.

SESAN Turkiye’de hic de azimsanmayacak bir gizli guc bulundugunu, kendisini sanatci olarak tanimlayan ya da tanimlamak isteyen insanlarin sayisinin sasirtici rakamlara ulastigini gosterdi bize. Daha dun okullarda resim derslerinin dogru durust yapilamadigi, sanat egitimi alanlara olumsuz bakildigi kasabalarda bile sanata gonul veren calisma gruplari olusturanlari gormek, bir seylerin hizla degistiginin de gostergesi bize gore. Insanimiz konusmak, anlatmak istiyor.

SESAN hazirladigi katalogda egitimli, sanati yasama bicimi olarak secmis olanlara yer vererek diger SESAN uyelerine ornek olusturmaya calisiyor. Iclerinde herkesin tanidigi sanatcilarin oldugu calismanin Turk gorsel sanatlarina katki yapacagi dusuncesiyle SESAN’ i kutluyorum.
